Nate is Two!

It’s crazy to think that we have a two year old, but here we are! As the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short. Ain’t that the truth? A part of me feels like he was born yesterday, yet the other part feels like we’ve had him our entire lives.

Watching his personality unfold has been my favorite part of motherhood. These days, I actually feel like I’m hanging out with a little friend! He’s curious, gentle, stubborn and has such a silly sense of humor. There will be days that he is doing something and I am simply blown away at how much he reminds me of myself when I was a little girl. I was always such a jokester (as is Keith) and seeing that part, makes me happiest of all. His favorite things in life are trucks, cars, cereal with almond milk and bananas, smoothies, blueberries and french fries. He’s starting to have an opinion on what I dress him in, eagerly telling me “this one!” or “NO!” Luckily, I always win that battle, but I know it’s just a matter of time. Speaking of, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but dressing a little boy has been another one of my favorite parts. Before having Nate, I always thought that dressing a little girl was where the fun came in, but dressing a boy has been the absolute best! I do feel like there’s a ton of room in the market for better boys clothes, but I actually enjoy the hunt. We shop all over, but our #1 go-to is Zara (where I get a ton stuff, including all of his skinny jeans).

Yesterday (4/24) was his official birthday and we celebrated by having a few of our friends over for breakfast (and cake!) and after Keith got home from work, we had a mini celebration as a family of three. Last year, I had a big party with over 50 people, but I wanted to keep it low-key this year. This weekend, before we head to Charleston, we’re having our parents and best friends come over for another small, but special, celebration.

To my Nate: there are not enough words to describe how much I love you. Thank you for making me a better human being and making these the best two years of my life. I want to keep you this small forever, but I’m equally excited to watch you grow up to be such a special little boy. Happy 2nd birthday to our Nate!
