In my never ending pursuit of trying to finalize our kitchen, I was on the hunt for the perfect runner, whatever that really means. I’ve been dying to get a vintage Turkish one, but knowing it was a risky move in terms of maintenance, I debated the choice for weeks. After finally deciding to take a risk and go through with it, the hardest part was finding one that I loved! It had to be a certain length (approximately 9″x2.5″) and flow with the rest of our home.
I ended up getting the one in the above photo and as of now, I couldn’t be happier! It’s a vintage one from the 60’s and one-of-a-kind. I find that it really completes the look of our kitchen. We’ve only had it for a little less than a month, so I can’t really comment on maintenance, but will keep you all posted!
Whether it’s for your kitchen or another part of your home, here are some of my favorite vintage rug sites and shops:
Legend Rug: After weeks of searching, I finally found our runner from here. So many beautiful options, like this one.
Loom & Kiln: I first discovered them on Instagram after a friend, who knew I was on the hunt, tagged me in one of their photos. They have the most beautiful Instagram account and provide both beautiful choices and inspiration.
Kaya Kilims: To echo the above, I discovered them on Instagram and every other photo makes me want to swap out all of my rugs for vintage ones from Turkey. I mean, how stunning is this photo?!
Beniourain Carpets: Specializing in Moroccan rugs, they have an in incredible collection in every shape, size and color.
Rug & Weave: A husband and wife team that sources rugs from Turkey and Morocco, Mudcloth throws from Ghana and pillows from the villages of the Ivory Coast, you’ll find such a beautiful selection of handmade goods.
Not wanting to overwhelm, I kept the list short and sweet, but all with fantastic options. If you’re on a rug hunt, good luck! I know it’s not an easy task.
Also, a full kitchen post with all details is coming soon!
